To expose students to women in various careers and to impart what it takes to become successful.
Catherine M. Lynch, M.D., associate vice president of Women’s Health and associate dean of General Obstetrics & Gynecology at USF, and wife of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, will bring to life the symposium after spending a day learning about Girls Prep and observing classrooms. Dr. Lynch spearheaded the effort for speakers and contacted successful women in the health field, as well as some high-ranking officials from the City of Tampa and MacDill Air Force Base.
Women representing the fields of advanced clinical learning, pediatrics, pharmacy, public health, and nutrition will represent the medical profession. In addition, Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor and a representative from Tampa Fire Rescue will visit classrooms to speak about the secrets to their success and participate in Q & A sessions.
