King High to Host Lion’s Pride Band Competition

On Saturday, Oct. 20, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., 11 high school bands will compete in the 16th edition of the Lion’s Pride marching band competition at King High School.

Marching bands from Hillsborough, Manatee, and Pasco counties will begin warming up at 1:15 p.m., and each band will perform for 30 minutes.  A drum line competition will take place during the intermission and while the scores are being tallied at the end of the event.  In a March Madness-type bracket schedule, drum lines from Manatee, Hillsborough, Strawberry Crest, King, Tampa Bay Tech, Jefferson, and Blake high schools will face off. 

Awards will be distributed beginning at 6:45 p.m. Bruster’s Ice Cream, Chick-Fil-A, Emma’s Cupcakes, Five Guys, Kettle Korn, Nicola’s Donuts, Papa John’s, Outback, Qdoba, Roux’s New Orleans Style Snoballs, and Smoothie-King will serve food throughout the day.
